PRIVATE
COLLEGES

ABOUT PRIVATE COLLEGES IN
CANADA

Before July 2013, Canada would allow you to work while you study a language program (such as English or French) for a maximum of 20 hours per week. Since then, Canada decided to revoke this privilege and private colleges started to gain power and people's attention.

A private college will allow you to study and work while you are enrolled in the program, but after you graduate and complete your co-op component, your permit more likely will end. To remain in Canada you will need to extend to another program or a public college.

WHY CHOOSE
A PRIVATE COLLEGE?

Private colleges in all of Canada allow you to work and study while you become a professional in a certain subject. Think about knowing English at an intermediate level, and you want to keep studying English while getting to know about marketing, or IT. Now, with the Private Career College (PCC) programs, you can do so.

Usually, when you choose a work and study program in Canada, the certificate or diploma can help you enhance your career opportunities in your home country. And this is only because you can not apply for a Post Graduation Work Permit once you graduate from a private college.

The rules are different for Quebec (read below the areas of studies in Canada).

There are many programs available for you, but basically, you can focus on the following areas of study:
